I.D. question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-May-02 AT 11:50 AM (EST)]****ryBoy:
Your DMV VIN breaks out like this:
612772 = 1965, between 580,001 - 731,999
F11 - F-100 series (not sure what difference F-10 and F-11 is, maybe 4x4?)
D - Engine Code = 352 8 cyl 2V, 172 hp@4000 rpm
R - Assembly Plant = ?

Your door tag breaks down like this:
400864 - 1963, between 325,001 and 445,000
F10 - Series = F-100
J - Engine Code = Economy 223 6 cyl 114 hp@3600 rpm
R - Assembly plant ?
Trans A = Standard light Duty Ford 3-speed
Axle 12 = Ford 9" ( I think, not sure)
WB 144 = Wheel base of 114", or a short bed truck.

Looks like you might have a swapped door, or a swapped Warranty Plate. Check on the firewall for a screwed tag, inside the glove box, or along the radiator support for another plate. You can find the real VIN stamped either on the front firewall (sometimes) or along the right frame rail, usually alongside the engine.

Sorry I cannot help more at this time!

Your VIN 400864 was made in April 1963

Hope this helps!

I.D. question

Thanks for the reply.I'm just trying to see what exactly I have in the way of tranny, and axles, etc so I can start to figure out what I'm going to do with what...if that makes any sense. It's a decently solid truck can't wait to get it in some nasty places....Thanks again..

I.D. question

Volume one , not the "preliminary volume" of the 1965 shop manual set will have the VIN ID codes you are looking for..
