soas a few of you may be aware i have a 1974 f250 4x4 that i swapped a 76 front axle into, now i am suspect of the integrity of my factory brake lines and am going to order a new set of stainless lines so the question is should i order a 76 line kit or a 74 line kit? i am thinking 74 do to the prop valve needing to be installed but figured i'd ask here.
and what is the torque spec for the u bolts on the front axle? i got new u bolts so no worries there just no idea what the torque spec is aside from tighten the sh#t out of them.
Your truck had front drums stock and you swapped in a disc axle? If so, if I remember right, you'll go from need a hard line on the front axle to soft lines for the calipers? Are you ordering from inline tube? Could always call them and tell them what you have. Pretty sure they bend the kits as you order anyway.
I've never torqued u bolts, run them down until they touch and then I do a hard tight with maybe a 12" ratchet, then I'll drive a few and check them again. They almost always settle a teeny bit after driving even if you wail on them, and the threads are only rolled so don't go too crazy. It is possible to strip them.

i have new rubber hoses for a 76 i figured best get the proper lines for the calipers my main concern is the rest of the truck i'd hate to have the rear axle have a different fitting than a 76 (adapters in a brake system don't exactly seam kosher to me)
