MAF question
-can it be done inside the air intake housing without removing it?
-can someone recommend a brand of O2 safe cleaner so when I go into the parts store I know what to look for?
-any other tips would be greatly appreciated (obviously I'm not the most mechanically gifted!!)
thanks a ton!

-can someone recommend a brand of O2 safe cleaner so when I go into the parts store I know what to look for? Buy ONLY an electronic parts cleaner that evaporates without leaving any residue- this is key. I can't remember the name of the stuff I use- It comes in a blue can. You'll be able pick some up at any hardware, auto parts or electronic store. Costs anywhere from $4-$7.
-any other tips would be greatly appreciated (obviously I'm not the most mechanically gifted!!) - Take a look at the sensor before cleaning just so you can see what it looks like dirty- If you've been running that K&N for years without cleaning the MAF it's bound to have some build-up on the filament. Also DO NOT physically touch the sensor-no toothpicks or q-tips needed. If this is the first time ever cleaning(It may have been cleaned by a mechanic if you had the truck in the shop for new plugs), you may want to disconnect the battery for a little while to force the PCM to relearn the new inputs more quickly.
I usually try and spray the MAF at every oil change. Also I clean it a week or so after cleaning the K&N so that any excess oil gets flushed out.
