i was actually abnout to make a new post on my c6 (found out what it it today) im glad to know they are supposed to be real solid but maby this thing is just real different than im used to it seems the engine has to spin as lot to move the truck. there is more lag than i would expect when i hit the gas to it moving. i just changed the fluid today it was real dark and a little smelly, not burnt. there were some small metal flakes in the old filter for it. and a few times today while i was driving it stated slowing down whilke i had not changed the pedal at all, and it spedd up a bit. both times the engine hadnt changed at all. also while going up a small hill i had the pedal about half way down and it was going but when i put the pedal down the engine spun a little faster but i didnt get and speed increase. are they normally like this? is it dying?it it because it had mostly sat around for months and it will work itself out better?
it should move off the line at a pretty good clip but first with the C-6 is higher than any other trans they used. If it feels like the trans is slipping then you have problems, if not, then I wouldn't worry. When you put the pedal down it should downshift and it would rev up and take a while to acelerate so with your description it is really hard to know if there is a problem.
What are you using the truck for? If you are planning on swapping over to a manual, have you given any thought about the NP435? IMHO it is stronger than both the T18 and T19 and has a bulldog of a 1st gear. (6.68:1 !!)
It's just my daily driver. I will occasionally pull a trailer with sound equipment. This is not somethin i will be doing until the c-6 is shot. Will the NP435 bolt up? when did ford use it?
