The Sport-Trac is not really all that suited to the contractor/working man types because of it's limited bed size. IMO it's more suited to the weekend sports guy types, hence the name. The Ranger, on the other hand, is a Small Truck.
There seems to be a bit of inconsistency in this discussion. There is the general agreement that people are dumping their big trucks and SUVs in large numbers on account of high fuel costs. Then in almost the same breath, there is a call for a "larger Ranger" capable of sporting a V8 and crew cab, with an F-150 bed-size. Of course, "larger" means "heavier", and more expensive to build, and... well I think you get the point.
