I did a search on "Door Panels" for my truck, and came up with nothing. Checked the online store for these panels. Any ideas where I might find them?
Also their is one screw in the trim on each door panel, WHAT do you do after you remove the screw to release the rest of the trim?
I thought I had seen a forum on upholstery here before??
The chrome molding is held to the door with press in clips, along with that small screw at the end you mentioned. These clips also help hold the plastic inserts in. The small corner chrome is press fit into each edge of the other chrome parts. This little part is easily lost or missing on allot of trucks it seems.. If you find any small pieces of wood or hardboard behind sections of your old plastic insert panels, these are correct and should be reproduced or reused with your new panel. They keep the raised sections from cracking due to pressures to the plastic panel when opening doors or windows as these sections age or get severely cold like it does around here sometimes. The panels are reproduced, check out Macs, Dearborn Classics, Obsolete Auto, ebay, and other Ford parts catalogs. .
Thank's 66Ranger;
The front part of the plastic panel is wasted. I was able to salvage the back portion for a pattern. I intend on doing my door panels in a light blue leather; in diamond tuck.
I do have some commercial upholstery experience in my background, mostly in resturants, some auto and avaition. I really appreciate your feedback, as well as everyone else's contributions to this great site. If I can be of assistance in this area to anyone, you can email me at treasurehtr24k@att.net with your Q's.
Try Dennis Carpenter, LMC, Autokrafters, Carolina Classics for stock type replacements. I know for sure they all carry them. Just saw em at Pigeon Forge.
Also, Roddoors is making FULL door panels (top to bottom) and a one piece FULLY molded headliner for 61-66's now too. They also make kick panels, something our trucks never had. You can cover thier panels with whatever you want, or order them precovered.
