I have a '65 f100 with 390, my accelerator cable is frayed slightly and sticking in the sheathing
i am having one hell of a time finding one here in las vegas.
anyone know where i can get one, or possible what later model car or truck used the same or closely workable cable
ps, been away for about a year, and i like the new feel of the site. I have also learned a little more about our ever beloved fords
later guys , stevo
on my 65 i had the sameproblem so i took a peice of threaded rod and made a throttle shaft instead of a cable. you need to bend the top of the pedal over towards the passenger side and enlarge the hole in the firewall. but other than that it is simple to do and a lot easier to adjust for maximum throttle. something you might want to do.

I used an aftermarket throttle cable for my '65. I believe the one I used is made by Lokar. I needed a different linkage setup after putting a 4 bbl on my 240. It works well, but requiered some bracket modification to hook up to the carb.
Steve: Forgive me if this sounds foolish, but have you checked the Ford dealer? I picked one up last year for my '66 at the local Ford dealership. Although Ford went to a mechanical linkage in '67 for trucks, and that might work (as previously posted) for you, I know the cable was used for a number of years afterwards on cars.
Guys this thread is two years old, if he aint fixed it yet, he probably has found a way to work around it.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
I really enjoy these old posts! And the advice and ideas help keep me motivated. Often I forget that Ford still has lots of stuff that will work on our old trucks. And companies like LoKar, Ididit, Dennis Carpenter and our buddy Ken Paine have a huge supply of aftermarket solutions for our problems. I love this stuff.
