2000 Explorer Alarm

Have 2000 Explorer 2door sport with factory alarm system. I replaced the vehicle battery (disconnected old and put in new battery. After battery replacement, I cannot start the engine unless I click the "unlock" on the remote key entry. For ex: if I shut off engine, the theft light on dash would blink for a minute. After a minute a different red light blinks on left hand side. When the second light blinks, I cannot start engine unless I hit the "Unlock" on the remote key thingy. Prior to battery disconnect, it did not do this ... it would let me start without hitting "Unlock" . Anyone know how to reset this so I do not need to hit the "Unlock" to start ? I have the same issue on my 00 EB. It drives me crazy! If I wait as long as 30 second after disarming the alarm it, I will have to disarm it again to turn off the kill switch.
