I have a '96 F-150 with some major keyless entry issues. Not sure how the problem started but here are the symptoms:
-When i put the key in and turn it to ON, the doors automatically lock.
-Cannot start truck unless i turn the ignition to start, press the kill button for the alarm, then start it. When i do this, all the lights on the dash come on, but after i hit the kill button, the ABS light goes out and truck starts right up.
-I dont have any working/programmed keyless entry remotes. I tried doing the on/off 8x to 10x method to program some old ones from other Fords, but nothing happens.
-The little red light on the dash blinks, but nothing else.
-The alarm will sound when the battery is disconnected and reconnected.
Can anyone offer any insight on how i can fix this? Is there a way that i can reset the entire module?
UPDATE: i solved the issue with pushing the kill button before starting. however, i still cant get the system to go into programming mode using the key-turning method. im looking in my shop manual repair cd which says there's a "remote keyless entry program connector" which i think might be the solution. anyone know where i could find this part?
