Y is everyone throwing the MM&FF out the window? other mags besides C&D who are dick heads that hate ford got like 12.7 and 12.5 with traction control on for the 12.7 and 12.5 off, neither of the 2 powershifted, MM&FF got a 12.2 with trac control off and they powershifted, how is this so impossible?
Nobody is throwing the MM&FF times out the window....but the C&D test ran the Vette and Shelby at the same time and at the same track.
At the risk of being redundant.......the Shelby 500 is the greatest $35,000 car EVER.......too bad it sells for $45,000++++++.
There is a positive side...........Ford DOHC 4 valve motors LOVE boost. While some people think throwing a blower on a smaller motor is some kind of handicap....those people are kinda dumb.
The Shelby (like it's little brother Cobra) will have no problem pulling another 100-150 horsepower with pulleys and a tune......you cannot do that with a N/A motor.
I wouldn't be surprised at all seeing the GT500 stuffing Vettes AND Vipers on the DRAG STRIP after some minor mods........but the 4,000 pound pig will always wallow around the twisties against those two cars.
well, the only thing that even really said about the gt500 competing with the vette is because of the price.
i think there are a few cars that are in that price range also that people buy.
i didn't look or anything, but are bmw's, and volvo s60r and such in the same price range?
i beleive the gt500 having the much better styling (in my opinion) and able to seat 4 and the history associated with the shelby name (for the mustang buffs) really will put the gt500 in its own class.
its not always about who has the fastest times on the track.
but, i havn't seen a pic of the gt500, but it would be cool if they did some cosmetic changes to it to separate it from the rest of the mustangs, like the 1969 gt500, what a sweet car!

Actually if rumors are true you will not be able to do a pully swap. What is being said is that the diameter of the blower pully is just a hair bigger than the blower snout. I guess you could go to an oversized crank pully and all that it will entail. Of goes there is always NoS.
Vettes at the drags...........that boy ain't right!
Hmm pray tell why. When I see Dodge Caravans at the track, F350's, etc it is all about bring what you got. And at $25 it is cheap intertainment. Of course the Nice thing about the Vette over almost all other vehicles is stock I can do drags, autocross and road racing. And then of course getting to the tracks you get 28+mpg. Maybe the best sport car buy in history.

The crank pulley has always been the prefered method............even when the top pulley can be smaller. And depending on who you talk to, the lower is easier..........the top needs a puller.
Bigger lower pulleys have much less belt slippage than smaller upper pulleys.
Have had the 6 pound lower pulley for the Lightning for quite a while........gonna wait till the warranty is up.

Dang it, you type faster than me...............you're also more subtle.
The GT500 was not meant to go after the Viper or Vette it in a different class. It main competition is coming in 08 when the Challenger and Camaro come back let the wars begin.
Im not sure what company it is ill look it up but theres a pully swap available for the new GT500 and theres a tune to come pretty soon, ill c if i can find it. And the Gt500 was faster around the track then the vette in the times I posted it was a 05 vette idk maybe thats y.
and thats just the begining of performance parts out there, no doubt that with a pully swap, tune, and exhuast the Gt500 make 600hp, and those mods if adms arnt that bad would be about what a vette cost all together.
Shelby GT500 have MSRP of $41,000 (coupe) and $46,000 (convertible), but its selling for twice that much.
Double Sigh...................
Do you read all the posts.....or just skim through them???
The MRSP is $41,XXX PLUS a $3,000 gas guzzler tax........OR aprox. $45,000.............firmly in C6 territory price wise, something a Mustang should never be (even with the $5,000 Shelby autograph)
