no but at times it sounds like a mix between the DMF rattling back and forth, and the engine sputtering, after idling down to idle...stops it if I rev it past 1000+ rpm, 99% of the time it will smooth itself off. The only time it ever does this is when my foot comes off the pedal, after being on it. ie: pulling into my driveway and poppin it in nuetral, or just stickin the clutch in and coasting....pullin up to a stop sign/red light, yadda yadda.
I also have over an inch of play in the DMF.
Sounds like a dual mass flywheel problem. I had the same happen to me on my 1 ton. Didn't know there was a single mass aftermarket solution. I'll know next time.
im going to call ford tomorow just to see how much they want for the sensor, and a new DMF...I just want to see how much they are. I couldnt believe the f'n sensor was 4x what you guys pay.
When I called ford about the clutch linkage bushings, they were $18.95 for just the one, I got a pack of em for $8.00 at the store that wants $560 for the CPS.
Im looking into running a 6.9L flywheel. One of the mods over in the IDI section is running the whole 6.9L package in his 7.3L turbo/4-speed combo. Flywheel, clutch, PP, and throw out bearing.
edit:heres a link to my solid flywheel thread over there https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-flywheel.html
Definately get yourself a spare cps from ebay, your most local IH dealer, powerstrokeshop.com, or whatever better supplier than the dealer or local parts house. You don't want to have to pay that kind of extortion when you absolutely need the sensor and you're sitting on the side of the road away from home. You'll also want to remove the bolt and put some antiseize on the threads. Nothing like corrosion, and a rounded bolt head to ruin your day.
I read through that other thread you linked to about converting the flywheel. Seems to me he was referring to a 7.3L IDI engine. You might want to confirm he used it behind a powerstroke. I am sure i've read in the past years, that the crank bolt pattern or sphysical size is different on the IDI and the DI engines. If it means anything, southbend's website list different part numbers for the various years of dual mass flywheels. See here - http://www.southbendclutch.com/dmf.html
I can get you a photo of the DI flywheel if you want. I changed out my clutch for a Southbend con-o kit last spring. I only wish i had done it sooner, i'm much happier with this one. If you were closer we could probably come to a deal on my old setup if you wanted to experiment with the flywheel. The clutch disc seemed almost new, it had about 3/4-1" of play in the flywheel.
I just wanted to find an easier clutch pedal to ease the aggravation to my worn out knee.
Are the CPS for 96 and 97 the same except for the bracket that holds them in? I am driving north in my 96(with spare cps) to pick up a 97 and would like to know if I have a problem on the way home with the 97 will the 96 CPS fit the 97 if I switch the hold-down bracket? Thanks, Eric
I feel like I'm in a time warp. I have to agree with Joe, the bottom fell out of the price on the CPS just before the CPS recall. I'm having a hard time accepting these prices that you guys are throwing out in this thread for the CPS.
I bought one from my local IH dealer in Reno back in Nov for around 18.00. I have a 97 and they will want the engine serial # located near the oil filter housing to get the right part #. If we are talking about the same part CPS this is all it should cost. I am sure Ford will charge more.
