DFord79,
Thanks for a good insight.
But I can't understand how some people can now order an '08 with the 6.4 if they don't even know what they are getting, unknown price for the delivered product, no published specs from Ford.
I'd like to order also, but I am not bold enough to order something that ultimately will cost an unknown amount of money, and whos specifications are not relesed yet. My Ford dealer had no clue or information about how I could order an '08 with the new 6.4 three weeks ago. (I asked.)
Interesting that you say manufacturing is to begin about april of '07. But I would believe all the original manufactured stock will be held for any number of quality reasons or functional/appearance issues.
I think you are wrong about the future cost of diesel fuel vs gas. Cost is already built in for the heating season with diesel more than 40 cents over regular gas in my area. New low sulphur diesel has been here at most pumps for more than 45 days in my area.
I don't know what Ford Dealers are going to do either. But it looks like they are caught in the middle on this. The 6.0 in production over four model years and some previous owners simply do not want to own another 6.0 at any cost or with any incentive from Ford. Never-the less, those that owned Superduty's having any engine seem to know that the base parts of this vehicle is generally one awesome and reliable vehicle as compared to the competition.
Can Ford build the '08 SD in an overhauled/new body style with an new power plant that is a reliable product?
Thanks for a good insight.

Catfish_Man, I wouldn't buy w/o pricing either but, specs have been available since the end of Sept.
Not sure what else you could learn spec wise that is not on these two sites:

I finally got to see a 2007 XLT "outlaw" package. I was unimpressed. The King Ranch and Harley Davidson still are the better packages. Too bad they are way too expensive and the market can not hold them up in the used sector.
The dealers in the Tampa area seem to have moved thier 2006/2007 stock. The dealer I use says they ordered as many 2007 diesels as they could and expects to sell them without any incentives. They said they can only order 2008 models now. They do not expect delivery until late March for the 2008 models, a four month spell to sell thier 2007's. I have noticed that most of the stations here still have the 500 ppm fuel only. I disagree with the statement that the 2007 and earlier models will be worthless. I am hedging that they will actually become more valuble and more sought after when the 2008 mess comes out.

Why do you think the 2008 will be a mess when it comes out? A lot of speculation there it seems. I don't know how one can reliably predict the outcome of a product before it is released. It may be a mess or it may be the greatest new emissions compatible engine on the street. No way to know 'til it gets here.
The pricing of the 2008 will likely have more an immediate impact on the 6.0 values than anything else. At least in the short term.
