It has begun
Well, a week after getting my truck, I've got my system put in yesterday, and I ordered a bully dog exhaust system today- 3" downpipe, 4" catback. We're going to put in a straight pipe where the cat is... And as luck would have it, they have a stock intercooler from a 6.0 litre in thier garage thats leftover from an upgrade... The shop is doing the exhaust friday, and I'd like to try to get the intercooler started next week... I dont know whats next after the intercooler.. Im thinking a set of injectors from Beans, or programmer of some sorts..
That leads me to a question- How much horsepower/torque can this automatic tranny take? It shifts pretty well... only thing I notice is it shifts hard from what seems like 1st to 2nd.. On the automatic Mitsu's ive worked on, this same symptom was normal, but from 2nd to 3rd, so I dont know if something like this is normal for the ford..

if your doing all that work the tranny isn't long for this world i put in stage 1 from beans and i got 6000 out of stock tranny and it had 152000 i beat the heal out of it though hahahah and it was fun doin it

Yeah but if your easy on it wont the trans last. I don't haul anything and have a light foot. I only bought the stage 1's cuz for the money it was a good deal. My Stage 1 get installed Monday. Should I be cautious if I do the occasional rouping??

everyone always says they'll be easy on it... Then they get a little itch.... But it seems like a sure thing the transmission will go with the added power the injectors produce.. Are these tranny's just weak or is it more to do with the age/mileage?

they are on the weak side if add power. stock they are not too bad could be better. with adding power you atleast need a sonnax kit (good) or a bts valve body (best). but even with stage 1's a full on bts trans would be a good idea if you can afford it.

Damn.. well that kind of sucks to hear. I'll probably hold out on the injectors till this tranny goes.. On a good note though, my exhaust came in this morning and I picked up that intercooler for 25 bucks.
