Hello all, I have a 99 f250 4x4 and recently noticed that when the fuel level is below 1/4 of a tank that the truck runs very rough. The only time it does that is when the tank is below 1/4 of a tank. I have replaced the CPS in the past and I am positive it is not the problem. I wanted some opinions before I pull the tank. My first thought is that the sending unit (for some reason) is sitting high in the tank and not getting good fuel flow when the tank is low. Anyone else had this problem?
I had something similar, but there was goop in the tank and for some reason would only affect when tank was low......i dropped the tank and flushed it out and fixed the problem.
Here is what my little buggers looked like before cleaning them. The one is all black and the other shows some crud still. Ended up using injector cleaner to clean them. I would have done the mod that eliminates these but I didn't have the parts needed.
I also had my truck do this when I got below 1/4 tank for the first time in well over a year since I often keep it full cause it does tend to sit a lot.
OKAY then, I'll be the first one to bite. WTH are those items and where are they?
I believe they are the screens in the mixing chamber.
edit: I would guess you have an air infiltration problem. Do the in-tank and pre-pump mods. I would get the parts for the mods if you are going to drop the tank anyway to check for crud. It's fairly easy to do. Good luck.
