Question Replacement Transmission ???

I have a 2000 F-350 CC Dually with a 7.3. The transmission (4r100) let me down this weekend by not shiffting correctly and dropping 8 qts of fluid on the highway. I took it to the local trans shop and said it needs to be rebuilt or they can put in a Jasper Remanufactured with a 3 month an 75,000 mile warranty. Has anbody used one of these trannys ?? They say that it is upgraded with heavier parts.

Thanks for any info

I had a jasper put in about 2 months ago, it lasted less than 2500 miles and flew all to hell. they replaced it under warrenty no questions ask. so far the new trans is doing great but I replaced the valvebody with a BTS unit, this greatly improved the shifts and lowered the trans temps. the new trans came with a huge new cooler that they put on as part of the replacement along with a inline fluid filter, the filter I am not quite sure about

If you have the time : www.brianstruckshop.com I believe he still gives a 2yr warranty. Sorry but no experience with the jasper tranny's. Sure someone here will have been through one though.

buying a transmission from Brian @ BTS basically gets rid of ALL of your tranny needs. sure he states a 2 yr warranty, but i have NEVER heard of a story where customers had to pay for replacement parts. even outside of warranty, he bites the bullet and most of the time eats the labor and parts. it only takes fuel to get to his shop in AR and time.

Yeah I vote for a BTS! Going there in a month for my new tranny! I know a guy that went through 3, yes THREE, Jasper trannys in his 7.3 and he was not modded that much. BTS will hold whatever you throw at it. Good Luck!

I can't say enough about how much I like my BTS trans and how good the shop has been to me. I had a couple freak (aka - rare) things happen to me after the rebuild (pump & TC failure), but Brian went out of his way - literaly - to get it fixed ASAP and have me back on the road. I have experienced nothing but pure driving pleasure after those small bumps were taken care of. And I love not having to watch how I'm driving or applying the power, because I'm worried about my trans. I can take it to the drag strip, do sled pulls with it, whatever....if it breaks (very doubtful at my power levels) he'll fix it. Period.

Brian put it simply to me - you can't afford not buy one of his transmissions. Once you buy one, you're basically set for as long as you own it.

Okay, Johnny spoil sport here or not. I just feel compelled to ask, who here has the BTS tranny in their truck for the longest time and most miles? Maybe this should be a new thread or a poll even, but I don't know that there's enough out there. I know I've heard BTS repeatedly here and want numbers now.

Well, on this forum, I don't think you'll find many. It seems that BTS trannies are just starting to make their way into some trucks here on FTE. I'm trying to think of anyone that had one before aklim and myself got ours in. I'm sure there's someone, but just don't know who.

Now over on the other forum (TDS), one of the moderators has been keeping track of BTS owners for over two years. He's currently at 180+ members there with BTS trannies. Of those, 14 have had a failure of some sort and most of the time it's the TC that failed not the tranny. There's been a lot of miles with quite a few high HP trucks put on BTS transmissions by members over there.

So numbers from FTE may be hard to come by, but that's purely from not having many BTS transmissions put to use by our members. I assure you though, that there have been plenty of miles, and hard miles at that, put through BTS stuff.

I can't post a link to the other forum here, but if you're interested send me a PM and I'll see if I can't point you to it.
