alright thanks ya i came across him on youtube and left him a message, though he never got back to me i did the 14.7k variable resistor today and i see a difference, not like 60hp and 100 torque like some claim but enough to know its there
Adding a resistor to the EOT changes engine timing. By default, the PCM in stock programming (and even when a chip or programmer is added) changes the timing for cold weather operation until the engine oil rises to normal operating temps. This is a very old mod, and was introduced in the OBS days before chips and tuners became the norm. That's also back in the days when the 10K/18K mod came around.
If you do have a chip or programmer, it is NOT recommended to fool the EOT. Most people ignore this mod now as it's outdated and there are more power gains to be had with a chip or tuner. That's why you don't see SD owners doing this mod.
alright thanks, im also looking for a superchip max tuner on ebay almost had one for like 88$ amercian but the guy canceled my bid! if i could find a cheap one id buy it, its my winter vehicle, got a mustang for the summer

Get a chip instead. You won't find many people here who are fans of Superchips, Edge, Banks, Hypertech, etc.
DP-Tuner and Total Diesel Performance are the two most commonly recommended chips. There's a good reason for that too.
im aware of that but sadly im still in my youth big 18 here and a student for my apprenticeship, so im tight on cash as im currently in school at the moment, i have been looking around on ebay but nothing in my limits really, now whats so much better of a chip then a programmer?
Chips from DP-Tuner and Total Diesel offer a wider range of programming to suit your driving style, modifications, and anything else. Superchips and other programmers are generic tunes designed for bone stock trucks, and cover a wide array of years.
Each model year truck has several PCM codes produced throughout the model year. These slight tweaks in programming changes shift patterns, T/C lockup, fueling strategies, etc. A chip can be programmed for your specific PCM, instead of just a generic calibration.
In the end, you can have a chip running tunes that are more powerful, have lower EGT's, and all around provide a better driving experience. On top of that, if you aren't quite satisfied with how the tuning is done, DP and TW can tweak them to suit your needs.
The generic programmers work fine, and do what they are supposed to do. It's just you'll see on this and other forums where so many people have had other programmers, then switched to a DP or another chip, and regretted ever wasting money on the old programmer.
my truck is stock well other then the napa air inlet, custom fuel line going into the filter, check that out on another post though, and as of today a 15k pot in my icp sensor which made a slight change, ill get a muffler delete here soon, as i said im a student doing my apprenticeship so big bucks are hard to come by at the moment, and its my winter vehicle at the moment, have a mustang to run around in the sumer
I'm partial to DP-Tuner because that's what I run. Jody has live tuned my truck, and I've hung out with him on a few occasions. He's always been a great guy. The F-5 chip that DP offers is cheaper, but it holds the same number of tunes as the F-6.
I've also met Tony of Total Diesel Performance. He is another very nice guy. Lots of people use his chips and like his tuning. He uses the rotary style 6-position chip, so it's a little different than the DP-Tuner one.
The chip itself is going to cost that much without any tunes on it. So expect to pay more.
On edit: If you play around on the two sites, you can chose your settings and it will give you a price in the shopping cart at the bottom. All prices are USD, but you can always convert pretty easy.
That is only for reburns. If you see at the top, it says "chip not included". That is for people who buy a used chip, and want it reburned for their truck.
