On both my 92F150 and 95 F250, the hood latch release inside the cab doesn't retract all the way when I open the hood. If I don't push it back in then the hood won't close until I do.
In the past, when I opened the hood, the release would pull itself back in without me pushing it. I don't see any springs in the system, does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?
there should be a spring on the latch under the hood. Check that. Then lube every day untill it loosens up. Check that the cable isn't crimped anywhere.
I've had to Spray a couple latches of mine with parts cleaner. Because of all gunk that built up over years. then lube it. But I did replace one latch on my 88 bronco because nothing seemed to work. good luck.

Reason: latch
you need to use spray lube, than work cable back and forth, repeat for at least a couple of days. mine would not open hood when i bought truck and now it never gives me problems because twice a year i lube it up.
