I was about to complain, in another thread, about my thermo. reading 103+ today...I think I'll just keep my mouth shut. I forget how good we've got it sometimes.
You got used to it? Wow! I can't even get used to this! You're a better man than I. I crawled around in a ~140 degree attic today, about 10 minutes was more enough for me...
Send me some of that cheap gas and I'll send you some of our 'cool' air.
Don't get me wrong, you don't acclimate to the point that you can be in that extreme heat all day. You find some shade, drink a lot of water, do your job. They won't allow you to run at noon, though. they will make you stop exercising (I don't know why one would run at noon, anyway, but my OIC tried it and they told him to cease). By "getting used to it" I mean that we enjoy the evening air and grill steaks occasionally, when the temp is a balmy 100 degrees, or so.
I'll let you know about the 90 degree nights when we have one. So far, right at a hundred is about all we expect. Looking forward to the fall and winter. But back to the vehicle...
we also have a full sized Savana 3500 van. I load this thing regularly with well over a ton of ice and water and it does real well on the highway. It rides rough off road, though. The ac works terrrific in that one- as long as you are moving down the road. Sitting still, it tends to blow hot air. Reckon that's to be expected, tho.
Yesterday's trip to the range required me to slow down at one point because there was, get this, a CAMEL in the road! It was a mommy feeding her youngun. She moved when we got close, baby hangin' on to the faucet. Wish I'd brought my camera.
If that's the case, and if one buys the jd power's 2006 vehicle durability results, then the hummers the armed services personnel are stuck using are real pos after all.

My my, did I hit a nerve stating something bad about your beloved gm!?! Can't say as I do know the difference between an h1 or an h2, nor do I really care.
If you want to take a look for yourself I "initially" listed the company's name that did the research! Or, you can take a look-see at the thread on this forum titled "Latest JD powers Reliability Survey Results" provided by Polarbear.

Enjoy!
No nerve here..........really don't like GM except for the Durmax/Alison and Corvette. This is direct contrast to some people who think EVERY Ford is the 2nd coming.
Back to Hummers; As far as I know, the military uses the Humvee(?) which is what the civilian H1 is based on. Obviously, the military version probably doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the H1 has. (less to go wrong??)
Civilian Hummers also include H2's and H3's.......which is what that vague JD Powers report includes. (It just states "Hummer" and doesn't break down models)
When I go to JD powers site specifically for the '06 H1, it shows "no data available"............hence my request for you to prove your broad generalization.
Lastly, reading that JD powers chart shows that for every 100 vehicles that Hummers have 83 more fixes.....or .83 per vehicle(that's less than 1)....a real POS
I guess using your logic, Ford must really suck when compared to all the cars ranked above them.............including Mercury.

The differences in the Hummers are easy to figure out. The H-1 is based on the military vehicle, the H2 is based on the Suburban and the H3 is based on the Trailblazer. Any similarities between the three are only skin deep.
