Hi, I have a 96 F150 5.0 with a rusty, leaky oil pan. Anybody have any information on a good manufacturer of oil pans that DON'T rot? Obviously, I am not going to get the Ford part, because why would I spend too much for another one that will simply rust out? I have looked at Engine Quest oil pans, Jeg's catalog, and several online places, but I don't know what I am getting as far as quality goes. Any suggestions?
I had the same problem with my 96 350 and went ahead and bought a ford pan. however, if you look into coating the outside of it with some type of coating, maybe that would help before you install it. I don't know if like a rhino coating would help it or not but u could look into something like that. just my two cents
As long as there is rust through or rust caused weakening, the leaks are usually caused by bad gaskets/sealing.
Remove the pan, clean/blast it, paint or powder coat it, and reuse it.
Or, send it out for a coatings like on headers. Jethot, HPC, CermaKrome, Swaintech, Polydyne, Techline, Thermaltech,... should be able to give it an long lasting pretty coating.
