I recently purchased an 01 Expy EB that has the Ford Remote Starter installed. Unfortunately, I didn't get any paperwork/instructions/User's Manual on how to operate it. When I hit the start button with the hood closed, doors closed, parking brake on, etc - the horn chirps twice, but never an attempt to start. Given my experience with aftermarket remote starters on other vehicles, I'm wondering if maybe it is in valet mode or maybe there is something wrong. Does anyone have instructions or a link to instructions for installation, programming & using the Ford Remote Starter?
I can't find any info on that system either. May be the Ford dealer would make you a copy?
I tried the dealer today...they have a local stereo shop do their installs. I talked to that shop and he couldn't help me over the phone - said he'd need to take a look at the module.
In the meantime, I tried to find a model number on the module under the dash, without undoing all the zip ties, etc. There was a group of 4 fuses for the module - I took each one out and replaced them after verified they were good. I then went on a frenzy of hitting different permutations of buttons on the keyfob, unlock button on the door, brake pedal on/off, key on/off, etc - just trying to get some sort of reaction out of the start button other than two short horn beeps. I also wrapped on the hood tilt sensor to make sure it didn't think the hood was open when it really wasn't.
Low and behold, the remote starter now works! I'm not sure if it just needed to be reset by pulling the fuses, the wrap on the hood tilt, button presses, or what did it, but it's working!
I'd still like some instructions if anyone comes across any...for enabling/disabling features, valet mode, etc.
