I read a lot of threads in this forum to repair the door switch on my 99 F150. I did the famous WD-40, with no avail. The funny thing about it, it seems to be a short in the harness. You can roll the window down(power) and it chimes constantly, says my door is ajar.(very irritating, all the lights come on) Roll the window up, it knocks it out 95%. Rarley comes on, unless I lean into the door arm rest on a ramp at 50 MPH. My question is, how do I remove the plastic door covering to gain acess. It has no screws (except handel), and I think it's popped on, I don't want to tear it up, or is there a wire I can snip somewhere else, I don't care if the lights come on when I open the door.I'm just over the anoying ding, and lights coming on going down the road. Thank in advance.
Well, I got back into town yesterday, and tackled the door switch situation. I took the putty knife, and pulled on it like a bear, only to discover that the panel (plastic) tore where the hooks set into the door itself. Stopped, and found two screws, one behind the handle, and the other behind the pillar cover. Removed them, and it was a cinch. I need a new panel now, but at least the "Door Adjar" chime and light has ended. I clipped the first black wire, it killed the lights, but the switch was still shorted when pressure was applied to the door panel, and putting the window down. Clipped the other black wire, problem solved. I'll replace the switch in due time, just happy with the silence.Just a follow up.
