It's been a 10 year run driving Ford trucks but just traded my 2002 F250 in For a 2006 Dodge mainly I gotten tired dealing with the common 1999 and on Ford truck know Problems So I went back to Dodge I owned 1982 F-150, 1994 F-250 and 1997 F-350 great trucks but my 1999 and 2002 one thing after anouther.
Thanks for all the info all of have given me may be after Ford fixs all there know problems and own up to the ones they have now then I mite come Back to Ford I a Ford man but Ford needs to go back and re think there ways.
Or they will keep on losing Ford drivers to the other brands I keep a eye on this web site and see if Ford starts making a truck that has not all the little nick nack problems and blowing plugs out, front ends that fall apart get rid of those aluminum gear sets in there trany's Ect
Oh yea the reason I went to Dodge read there fourm they dont have half the common problems Ford are haveing and between the rebates employee pricing and getting $9500.00 off the sale price I went With Dodge.
I don't Care If Chevy gave me a Truck I would not Own a Chevy I would sell it off to a Lemond lot thats all they are good for or a a place that the cats and dog cant sleep in at night.
Well that sucks to hear but i guess you gotta do what yeah gotta do i like dodge's too though i dont have anything against them congrats on the new truck..
I am a car-washer for Maxim-Tetra Tech Inc. Since we're an American engineering company, any rig that is added to our fleets has to be "American" (I use that term loosely in this case).
Here's my opinion on 3/4 ton "American" trucks based on my experience with overall craftsmanship and design:
Chevy: Hard to clean both outside and in, usually the first trucks to go (when repairs bills start to fly).
Ford: interior quality is a little low, but overall good trucks. Extremely solid for AT LEAST 100,000 miles. We have an '05 F250 at my office that gives us a lot of trouble with its front end and has fairly low miles on it.
Dodge: Quality is good both inside and out, although my brother-in-law tells me 90's models suffered from weak frames. I don't know if that problem plagues the newer ones or not.
I hate to say it, but the grass isn't any greener on the other side. Ford, Chevy and Dodge dealerships all have service bays full of trucks having warranty work done. Buying a truck has unfortunately become a crap shoot with all 3 domestics. The best you can hope for is a friendly dealer that has good techs that can diagnose and fix the problem the first time.
haha thats what im talkin about. Yeah go ahead and buy a dodge but be prepared to stick your head between your legs when someone like me pulls up beside you in a powerstroke! Hey be positive though at least you didnt screw up that bad and buy a chebbie. Like he said "dont let the door hit ya...." haha
The best you can do is to learn as much as possible about the common problems of your vehicle, then implement the fix or try to prevent the problem. I bring my 1999 F-250 to the dealer way less now at 150k verses when it was new. There was a lot of **** parts that I have replaced and now the truck is in the shop less than ever. Crap parts: rotors - replaced front rotors and hubs to revised design, original sway bar and links - replaced with new style, factory shocks - bilstien and Edlebrock are by far better, ball joints - sealed ball joints are a joke, driveshaft u-joint - again the factory one could still be on there if it would've had a zerk.
Like I said before I had a 1997 dulleysuper cab PSD I wish I keeped it it the 1999 on up Ford Trucks That need help The PSD is a great motor it Ford rest of the truck thats need more work as not having little nick nak problems that are normal for the new Ford take a look at the Fourm Front end that fall apart rattle bang, Wiring that rubs though and shorts out, trany's that blow up, front hubs that fall apart, spark pulls that blow out windsheild that leak the list go's on and on The main thing FORD Knows about them but will not fix them, If there is a known commom problem they should recall them and fix them not make you or me pay for there known common going to happen problems.
You should not have to repalce so many parts so you can have a good truck I can see some but not so many this is what I am talking about you payed good money for this truck.
I ownned many Fords I will go back to them once they own up and fix these known problems or have those dumb enginners fix them before they sell them to the public I like Ford but the new ones need to be redone you dont buy a new truck to have known problems you want no problems at all.
I not saying Dodge is the best truck in the world it is not but it seems to have a lot less going wrong with them I know it will break it is a machince it going to break but sit down and look how many same type of problems Ford Trucks are having compaired to the older trucks Like I said before I like ford trucks but Ford needs to make there trucks more like the older ones beat the **** out of them and almost nothing breaks that is a truck beat on them then beat on them somemore.
That how the older Ford Truck were like and still be able to drive the for 10 year before you had things go wrong with them bring thoses old tough trucks back Ford Tough thats were they got there name make them bring it back not just say so.

ok im pretty sure this is a ford truck forum so go ahead into the dodge forum now that you own a dodge....my f150 bought with 60,000 miles and i drove it to 137,000 and did nothing but normal maintinence....my new 2006 f250 has 8000 on it and no problems yet...i know that aint alot but my dads 2004 f350 dually cc v10 has 65,000 on it and he bought it new and all he did was replace brakes and rotors....and oil changes...his last oil change actually was at 64000 and the one before that was at 55000...so he probable shouldnt have went 9000 miles with out a change but it still has nothing wrong with it...all im saying is all truck ave there problems...some are free from problems and some are horrible and everything breaks...but it seems to me you just went to the wrong dealership...not to be mean or anything but you sure complain alot...you should have even came here and said anything...just bow out gracefully and go on with yourself....i wish you he best of luck ...o yeah the guy who works with me has a 20055 dodge 2500 hemi quad cab and he has nothing but problems with it....at about 55 mph if he hits a bump his whole front end starts shaking and wont stop untill the truck comes to a complete stop and he has been in and out of the shop....i feel its a luck of the draw thing...you might get a truck that has problems you might not whether its ford doge or chevy...

I've got to totally agree with EnviroCon. Every dealership I know (U.S. and foreign) has service bays and all of them have vehicles waiting to get in to be fixed. My '02 has been back to the dealership 1 time for it's first oil change, that's it. Yes I work on it, but no more than the other trucks I've owned (no, not all Fords). Anyway, I hope you have good luck with your new truck.

I just got rid of my Dodge to buymy SuoerDuty. Been a Ford guy forever and had a sweet 86 F250 4x4 Lariat that I sold when I bought the Dodge 3 years ago. All I can say is I regretted selling my Ford more and more everyday. The Dodge is a good looking truck but that's all I can say about it. I'm not thrashing Dodge but I'll never leave Ford again. I love my SD!
I think it depends on what time your truck was built. 4:00 Friday trucks and 7:00 Mondays trucks will have problems no matter what the emblem on the grille is.
