excursion was running like crap but put in a new icp about 6 months ago and truck has been great now its bucking again and i replaced the cps but still crap. but if you take the icp off and blow it out or clean it and out it back in, it may run great for about 2 days - whay do these codes mean and should i replace the icp again??
thanks
P0470- P0470 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
-looks like you are still having exhaust backpressure sensor problems. pull the tube off and clean the tube and sensor. this time shoot some compressed air in the port in the manifold. maybe there is a clog there.
P0541- PO541 Manifold Intake Air Heater
-have you removed the airbox lately to do a AIS or a Kwik filter or any intake mods? the sensor has to be plugged in the connector. it reads intake temp pre-compressor. you need to have it plugged in for the code to not show up. just zip tie it to something nearby or a brakeline.
If cleaning the ICP helps for a couple of days, I think you should replace it again. Something isn't right with that sensor and you don't want it to strand you.
Hmmmm..........
There has been a few instances mentioned here on FTE about some troubles with the wiring harness for the engine wearing through where it lays against something. Over time it chafes it's way through to the bare wire and then you know the rest. The engine becomes possessed.
That would be me Kwik. Just finished replacing both main engine compartment harnesses after hunting the short for 6 weeks. Alls well now.
541 - thought that was the IAH on the cold side IC pipe just before it enters the manafold.
470 - EBP sensor is behind the serp belt above the CPS and to the left of the ECT sensor like strok said clean the sensor, tube, and port in the exhaust manafold. Dont think ICP sensor would have anything to do with this code being set. Also 470 gererally refers to the electrical side of the EBP, 471 refers to the mechanical according to the factory repair manual
P7A00 - Looks like undecipherd hex from the pcm. fix the other 2 and clear then see if it comes back
Your code P541 is due to the fact you removed the Air Intake Heater and wiring. I get this code also, but disregard it. The code P470 is for an open circuit in the signal return wire from the EBP sensor to the PCM. It can also be caused by a biased sensor. Check your wiring and the pipe. If everything checks out, I would replace the EBP sensor.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I have been told that the failure of the exhaust back pressure sensor located at the front of the engine will cause a code, but will not affect the way the engine runs.
All sensors have a fault number that they must excede in a single drive cycle or the fault must occure in consecutive drive cycles or the fault must be constant before they will set a code. the number varies depending on impact to emmissions. ie. CPS might set the MIL after 2 faults where EBP might have to reach 4 faults before setting the MIL.
