Bent push rod?
2000 F-350 sounds like it could have a bent push rod,it seems to run good and smooth, if it was a gas engine that would be the first thing I would check.
It also seems to be alittle under powered,do these engines have a history of bent push rods or broken rocker arm sattles?

that post markadeck talked about was the one where a guy had a backfiring sound out of the intake. the case was that the exhaust valve was not working properly due to a push rod or rocker post damage, and it was pusing the exhausted gasses out of the intake valve and back into the intake with a loud pop. do you have any abnormal noises such as that? ALL of the info you could give about abnormalties will be the best help.
