timming or carb help???

timming or carb help???

ok ive got a 78 f-150 4x4 4speed.
i rebuilt the 351m to stock specs exept for a rvtype cam and edelbrock intake and a 670 truck advenger.

the truck runs great but if you rev it up from idel a few times in will back fire out of the carb slightly, also when going up a sligh grade doing 50mph or so it stumble a little.

can any help me remodie my problem.

Did you check lifter preload ?

no I did not, how do you do that and is it to late

The easiest thing to do first, would be to check the timing and then go from there.

backfire sounds like timing
stumble might be a power valve in the carb.

What cam did you use? lifters new?

yea- almost like an exhaust valve seating issue...maybe...hopefully not. also check floats and ignition system.

There is a way to check valves with a vacuum guage. Can't remember how, but somebody here probly knows.
