I too lost a lot of noise when i went to the AIS after the kwik filter. Not sure I know what drone is though. My 5" straight pipe sounds really good pulling hard but regular driving with no pulling it is much quieter in the cab than the stock system i think.
Yes they do. I really noticed it on my last vacation towing the TT. I've been thinking more and more about the AIS, I know at least some of the drone is the 6637.

I got rid of my 6637 air filter in favor of an AIS intake system and all my drone disappeared.
I personally have the 5" expandit system that everyone seemed to be jumping on back when Mark at MKO diesel was selling it. I went with the muffler and i have no drone and still have tons of whistle. The drone a few months ago that i was experiencing was from the 6637 and i proved that by putting my stock air box back on(for a day) and it completely dissapeared. If i drove hiway all the time I'd get the AIS but around towm theres nothing sweeter than hearing that 6637 in-hale ricers. Bottomline experiment with queiting your intake especially if youre running the 6637. Thats where the drone seems to be at.
I wrapped from the bottom of the downpipe just above the elbow.
under the cab I could only get the top of the pipe.
I completely wrapped the muffler and the 3 feet in front of it.
Sound went from a 9 out of 10 to a 6.
Could u try wrapping as far up the DP as possible?
Thanks ,
Nut
Well the fire blanket finally got wet and the weight finally pulled it off.
Now the drone is back and alive. I thought the AIS would have helped but my ears are still ringing.
We have had good luck alleviating drone problems with our Exhaust Guides. Unfortunately, we only have them for 4" exhaust systems. They work similar to our Turbo Air Guides by straightening turbulent air flow. Several exhaust manufacturers refer customers with drone to us. Go to www.dieselpowerproducts.com, click on Ford and then on exhaust. I have a new site in the works and would like to hear member opinions on products they would like to see us carry.

that looks just as lame as the one that improves MPG.
Maybe you should look further into it before passing judgement? There is plenty of real world data out there on the Turbo Air Guides and the Exhaust Guides. Banks is one of the companies that refers customers to us. Maybe you've heard of them?
Nice response Car_Nut. Can you point an interested party in the direction to locate some of that real-world data on the TAG? I'd really like to read thru a little more data, before I place the order.
You can start on my website. There may be too much info there, it can take a while to get through it all. Just go to the homepage and click on Turbo Air Guide. You can also type in Turbo Air Guide to search this forum for some positive info. Scroll down you'll see some positives and negatives. The trucks do spool up faster and it's the guys that tow that see the real benefit. A nice side benefit is that it can dramatically cut down on black smoke. Which is normally a cool side effect of driving a diesel unless you are having to constantly clean black soot off the front of your trailer or fifth wheel. Gale Banks, in a recent article, called black smoke "Horsepower you can see".

I run b-99 bio so I haven't seen black smoke in years.
