I have an 05 F350 Regular Cab 5.4, 6 speed. Right now I have a thrush welded muffler on that I replaced the stock muffler with. I just cut out the muffler, i didnt change anything else. First I want to say I'm super impressed with the way it sounds. Flowmaster tone for a third of the price, can't beat it. My issue is its not quite loud enough for my liking. I was told if I cut out the resonator it will be louder and not drone so much in the cab on the highway. My biggest concern is, what happens if I do cut out the resonator? Any issues or things I should worry about? If anyone has a video or audio of what the 5.4 sounds like wit out a resonator I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
A resonator is just another muffler. You can remove it to get more sound. I would however just add a straight pipe in it's place encase it isn't the sound you want and be able to put it back in.
