Carb vs. altitude

Carb vs. altitude
After a long day of fighting thunderstorms, inches of hail, deep mud holes and steep slippery decents with a truck that sputters and doesn't idle I'm looking for a solution. The truck runs good around home at around 4200' but she really struggles when I get up to 9000' - 10,000'. I can make idle mixture adjustments but even that didn't seem to help today. I know that it's a lot to ask a mechanical carb but what other options would work? I have an Edelbrock 1406 carb on a 400 eng. Do the throttle body setups Summit sells work well? Do they require an electric pump? Thanks for any thoughts...

Swap to propane for $1000 and be done with it. Its a good idea for high altitude.
