Carb vs. altitude

After a long day of fighting thunderstorms, inches of hail, deep mud holes and steep slippery decents with a truck that sputters and doesn't idle I'm looking for a solution. The truck runs good around home at around 4200' but she really struggles when I get up to 9000' - 10,000'. I can make idle mixture adjustments but even that didn't seem to help today. I know that it's a lot to ask a mechanical carb but what other options would work? I have an Edelbrock 1406 carb on a 400 eng. Do the throttle body setups Summit sells work well? Do they require an electric pump? Thanks for any thoughts...

Well don't forget as you climb attitude you also need to advance the timing slightly too. that would help some.
Don't know anything about the TB setups Summit sells so can't comment.

Thanks - I didn't know that. I need to check it anyways - I have no idea where it's at right now.

Swap to propane for $1000 and be done with it. Its a good idea for high altitude.
