okay so i have a 99 f-250 sd with a v10 and its 4x4. The auto hubs starting making some kind of noise like a screeching noise. I pulled it all apart and i'm not quite sure what its supposed to look like. Does anyone have any pictures?
Hi, I think I might have the same problem (2003 F250 4x4). Mine only makes noise in 4wd. Does the screeching get louder the faster you go? Do you know what is causing the noise?
There is A needle bearing in the auto hub and in wheel hub that needs to be greased every 30,000 miles. If you have not been doing this then you may need to buy some new hubs.
SpringerPop, excellent follow through and thanks for that link.Amazingly I've been told by my Ford dealer that same old story? Problem is most of us rely on our dealer for service? Unless you service your own truck how do you convince Ford it is a maintinence item?
If they make noise just replace those small bearings, they are cheap. But watch the axles they may be damaged beyond use. Note: these bearings make noise in 2wd not 4wd.!!
yes the screeching is only in 2wd... I replaced the bearings and the needle bearings and the vacuum rings... .works like a champ now Thanks for all the info
