Some news, some plans?
My "news" is I'm about done with putting my tractor back together, got motivation last night and just need to run a good ground cable and hope all shifts propely in the re-done tranny...this was one of those "need to do" projects, that will now free up some time.
As far as the Chapter Leader nominations go, I just say leave Clint as-is, and let's pan something that doesn't obligate anyone...i/e, try to find a centalized location for a daytrip, have a BBQ, shoot the snitz, plan it for just a few hours, and let eveyone be home at a reasonable hour. We need to make a plan that accomodates kids as well.
We should make it a "bring your own stuff to eat" meet, instead of having one guy bring chips, one guy bring dip, and so forth.
I'd be fine with bringing enough "extra stuff" like the condiments and stuff...should also treat it as a thing that if you forget something, no worries to ask for something for someone else. My wife always plans for 30, even for the 5 of us, so there's bound to be an extra napkin or two if need be

I think the biggest issue is to find a location that no one has to make a 7 hour drive to get there...so I'm thinking that Clint is about the farthest South, so who is the farthest away in the North/foothills that would think about coming?
Might be something like Mickey Grove in Lodi, or maybe up in the foothills at Columbia, or Kennedy Meadows, whatever, now that my "need to do" project is about done, I'm up from dragging the family out on a Saturday to meet up with eveyone, have a good eat and a cold beverage, and put some faces in front of the names.
Besides, the weather is sooo nice, it's agood time to drive without dealing with the 100+ heat.
I'm thinking early September?
Worst comes to worse, I've a huge backyard we could meet at, and don't mind spending my time in front of the BBQ with a cold one in hand
So you guys ought to plan something in a location that's more central to where y'all are. Maybe next summer we can get a weekend thing going up at Tahoe...or I could even host something up here if my plans go through, (trying to buy property with a business and a huge shop) a fix-in/BBQ/fishing/boating thing or something...
We should shoot for after school starts but before the winter rains -
Activities should be open to anyone, but of special interest to several of the members who live in the region.
I'm just trynig to toss a few things out there that may arouse some intrest.
You were in Ripon?
Dang, only 15 minutes away from me

I thought anything south of Chowchilla was considered So. Cal. Not trying to run anyone off or anything...just wondering. I grew up in Oregon, and found out today that Monterey was the state's capitol at one time.

San Diego was the capitol of Alta California for 150 years - and they (Spain) claimed all the territory south of Portland, although Russia had a colony in Northern California during part of this time.
As to NorCal and FTE - we run to the summit of the grapevine (south of Bakersfield). On the north we go to Medford Ore, having one member there. My cousins live in Grants Pass, so I would extend our territory to there if they ever get interested.
On the east I would like to claim the Reno/Fallon area, although the new Nevada chapter may have other ideas.
Mostly it is not an issue - you do not have to live in an area to join the chapter. Several of our members claim dual-citizenship. I attend Southern California Chapter functions when they interest me. Just missed one where they paraded their trucks around the track for the opening of a race.
Why can't we do something fun like that?
But I know what you're saying. I've lived in the northern part of the state for so long that anything south of say, San Jose seems like So. Cal to me.
And I was born in Fresno.

Did you get those parts for the Small Block Ford boat project?
