i know this may be a dumb and played out question but what exactley are the upfitter switches purpose...i just hate the empty space on my 06 f250 and i want to stuff something in there
The purpose of the upfitter switches are to have Aux. switches already installed wired and ready to hook up to any add-on like driving lights, a CB radio, ect.......
Well the original switches have fuses in the main fuse box plus relays behind the glove box and have 2 -30amp and 2-15. You can always purchase or locate the Original switches and just inline fuse them to anything you connect to them.
Its really easy to install, there are directions on here somewhere. But it took me about 45 mins to install them in my truck. The hardest part for me was to cut into my dash.
I like them, looks good and they work great.
With your 06 truck, it all should be plug n play. From our sponsors you can get a little kit that has the switch assy, harness, and a little cubby if you don't use a brake control.
The harness has a connector for the back of the switch bank assy and a connector that fits the fuse block. The set of relays are wired into the harness. Pretty nice set up.
But I think the one I got had (2) 30amp circuits and (2) 10 amp cirucuits.
It is mentioned within the above thread, but the upfitter switches are available in a kit that contains the wiring harness, switches, additional fuse/relay box. Powerstrokeshop.com (site sponsor) sells the entire kit.

I have an '06 and I bought my kit from Powerstrokeshop.com also. Took about 30 min for me. Everything is in the kit and it's just like the factory installed it themselves.
Aux #1 - KC Daylighters up front
Aux #2 - 12 volt power in my Cap
Aux #3 - NOS activation
Aux #4 - High Idle for quicker warm-up in cold weather
Just remember, when installed properly they are only active with the key on. Don't wire them up to something you may want to have powered with the key off or removed.
Hey I would like to thank all of you on this web site. Just got a new 06 F250 SD and had two different dealers say these switches were unavailable. Going to order it tommorow. This has made me very happy. Luv the truck
So am I right by thinking that I connect the orange wire to say the red wire that goes through the firewall to install extra driving lights? Please help me.
