I ordered my 6637 filter from www.fleetfilter.com yesterday and I called Jody at DP and I will defintely be ordering his chip with probally 4 tunes; stock,40,80EC,and 120, I see no need for any more than that. I found a local shop (Warp Speed) who will install a 4" exhaust for $350. the guys at DP did tell me to make sure and get some gauges first, do you guys have any suggestions of which ones ,brand and type.
another vote for PureDieselPower. i had him pre-wire my gauges in a painted pillar. i got the Autometer Sport-Comp edition, boost, EGT and tranny temp.
they match the stock "gauges" perfectly, even the lighting, and here is a picture.
ew, realized there is a glare. i will try to get one without a glare here soon.
Those gauges are definetly what I am looking for. In your opinion if my towing is going to be very sparatic and light do I need a trans temp gauge. Also, are these gauges easily installed by a weekend mechanic such as myself?
if you are in doubt, get it anyway. plus the triple pods look cooler too. if you are as good of an electrician as i am, you will defanitely want the gauges pre-wired and installed. so all you have to do is snap it on the pillar, run the wires and hoses, and tap into all 3 sending units. there are very easy-to-comprehend instructions all over the search feature .
I am running DPTuners 80 econo tune, which dyno's at 103 extra HP, at the rear wheels and can't get my EGT's above 1200. Jody say the AIS/BTM is a perfect combo for the 80 econo tune and can even handle the 120 race but I would need to watch the gauge more.
Kevin/NCHornet.
Good post NC. Not wanting to rain on the parade but want to make sure we're putting out good poop here. 2 ?s. That 80hp DP tune puts out 103 extra hp? Do you have before and after dyno #s for that. And, I know the BTM helps that silly oem muffler system flow better, but I must say, I think that stock DP and tubing in the exhaust will certainly permit EGTs above 1200, especially if you're making 103hp above the stock level. JMO. Where is your thermocouple mounted?
Let me start by a recommendation for gauges. I like the Isspro's EV's very high quality. You can get the best price at www.kensperformancesolutions.com Ken is a great guy and sells all 3 gauges with a pillar mount and complete install kit with every wire and connector you will need all for under $300 delivered.
Now for the answers to the above posters questions. No I don't have before and after numbers for the 103HP gain with the 80econo tune, but Jody at DPTuner does, and this man is no liar or a bragger. There were several members of the TDS forum present when he dyno'd the 80econo tune and 120 race tune which dyno'd at 140 something.
Next question was you're not so sure the BTM helps my silly OEM muffler flow better.
I don't think you understand what a BTM is. The Walker BTM is a replacement muffler, not added in addition to the factory unit. You are incorrect about the flow also. The BTM will give you 80% of the flow of a full 4" exhaust. As I said before if you are going to add a 100 or 120 race tune you may want to go with a full 4" exhaust, but for the 80 econo tune the BTM/AIS is a great combo. I have my pyro gauge pre turbo in the exhaust manifold, same place 98% of the guys who know what they are doing place them. The 80 econo tune will bring the temps right up to the 1200 mark but will not go past. Our trucks can run all day long at 1200 so the BTM/AIS W/zoodad, flows all the air my truck needs and works very well for thousands of others running the same combo. If Jody himself recommends the set-up that's good enough for me, believe it or not.

Whoa there NC. I do know what a WBTM is, and I never said anybody was a liar or bragger. I also know what a cork the stock downpipe is (mine is in the back yard) and I don't care what you put behind that 3.5" pipe that connects to it. Certainly the BTM is an improvement over the silly oem muffler, but even straight piped the stock system is not gonna run as cool as a larger system with bigger down pipe, (20% less maybe??).
If you thought I was insulting you or implying that you are a liar, then you have my humble apology. I'm glad your setup is working for you. Just wanted to clear up a few things as I had considered the BTM before my cannon, and I am always interested in Jody's HP results. May want some of his product down the road. If you wish to continue in that manner, I'll not participate.
BTW, I suppose the numerous folks who have their pyros post turbo don't know what they are doing then, eh? I'm sure those folks appreciate that comment. Myself, I'm considering moving mine to the exhaust tip so I never have any egt issues.
