Serious Performance = Serious Research. You need to do some researching. Took me 6 months to find everything for my 2.9L. Just find people who specialize in what you wanna do to your 4.0L and start looking for the best deal... These engines are a little harder, sometimes you gotta fabricate. It's just not normal I suppose, like the 5.0L. Performance parts are a "dime a dozen" for a 5.0, just because that's why everyone gets a 5.0L. Cheap performance, high output.
Not sure if yours is the SOHC, but I like my internal cam 2.9L engine. The SOHC engines just don't seem to have that torque... I can be doing about 35mph, smash it, and my back end will about end up in a ditch off to the side of the road. Kind of scary in the rain, and snow is not an option. I put a big cam, MAF, headers, Air Adjuster, milled heads and a bigger T.B.. I imagine there is more I missed, but it's pretty fast.
