Truck has gone Crazy!
I have a 1997 F350 PSD SRW, I was going down the highway yesterday with the cruise control on, when all of the sudden the cruise shut off, truck downshifted one gear, the speedo quit working, ABS light came on, when I slowed down to see what was the problem the truck started to shift gears very hard or would stay in first and second longer than normal. Then the light on the end of gear shifter for the overdrive started blinking.What the heck is going here?
Thank you guys for any help, I am hoping that it is something simple. I do have a diablo chip in this also.

vehicle speed sensor. its on the top of the rear diff. its like a 1/2'' wrench to take it out. when you pull it out there may be a bunch of gunk on it, try taking a rag and cleaning that all out and putting it back on. also get contact cleaner and spray it on the plug connections.

Thanks Mitch, I was hoping that someone else had this same problem. I had to leave the truck at work ( afraid to drive it very far - have a 60 mile commute each way!) so will try this on Monday.

take the sensor out before you go to ford to order the part. if not you will likely get the wrong one.

could also be a fuse blew. there are about 4 or 5 different fuses that control parts of the trans/speed control. check any under the dash that say any things baout the trans or spped control or cruise also like other have said the VSS on the rear diff.

Thanks for all the reply's, installed the Rear Antilock Brake Sensor today, cleared up all the trouble. If only it cost $20 for the other repairs I made.
With 243,000 on her, something's bound to give out now and then, and when it does I get her fixed - I LOVE MY TRUCK - and I don't want a new one.
