1965 mercury stepside

I am presently rebuilding the above truck. My question is ?
1. Will a power steering box and components from a 70's ford truck swap into the 65?
2. Will the power brakes from a 70's ford truck swap into the 65?(front and rear). If none of the above, what will fit?

What would you recommend for a parts source for all the rubber components as this is a complete strip down and rebuild.
I will also require exterior chrome parts for my mercury, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

All the Ford rules apply, check the archives for info on the power steering, power disk brake conversion. There some issues related to the width of the rear differental housing and the number of splines on the axles. Again look through the archives and then post back. Plenty of parts suppliers out there including the store on this site. Also check out Dennis Carpenter for the rubber stuff. There are literally dozens of suppliers everything from new old stock to used and new. Good luck and please keep us posted.

John, The term "Fords Rule" (which they do) indicates a preference for the mighty "Blue Oval". "Ford rules apply" however indicates that your Mercury pickup is mostly a Ford, except for the badging. So, "Ford Rules" imply that all the modifications, improvements, up-dates and tricks of this great hobby also apply to the Mercury. There are a bunch of articles and tips available here that will help you up-grade your truck to power steering, power disk brakes, air conditioning installation, and my favorite "the one wire alternator conversion". How about some pictures of your Mercury?

John, The answer is yes. Mercury trucks are Ford trucks built in Canada, and as William posted the badging is the only difference. Find a donor truck through 79 with like engine and tranny and BUY it. Pull the I-beams, ps column & gear, and swap them in your truck. I have 76 parts in my 66.
