1990 F150 I6 starter problem

hey i was wondering if a starter from a 69 Mercury I6 will swap out with my 1990. they look very similar. is it worth pulling them to compare or does anyone know if i can swap them? Thanks

I can't tell you,but that's a long jump in years and starters have come a long way since then.You want to keep in mind that if it's off just a little,it could tear up your ring gear,and I don't have to tell you what kind of work that is.Sometimes it's just cheaper in the long run to buy the part.

new starter for that truck is $47 at az, I just bought 1. why take a chance on wipeing out the ring gear

the online inline available in a mercury in 69 was a 4.1L, and the starter PNs do not interchange.
