98 explorer eddie bauer 2wd.
For years the a/c would quit blowing when accelerating. I live in flat land, so really not much of a problem. Last weekend was spent in mountains. No a/c up the hills, nice a/c down the hills. Frankly, it sucked. Who knows where my vacuum problem is located?

 

Does it quit blowing thru the dash vents and switch to defrost, or does it quit blowing anywhere?

Air flow stops. No air at all coming from dash. But, let off of the throttle and the air flows just fine. Do not think the defrost is blowing. It just acts like it shuts off the air flow, on acceleration. Has to be a vacuum problem closing a door wouldn't you think?

 

Hmmm......that's a weird one; defrost is the "fail-safe" setting so even with no vacuum for the controls you should get airflow there.

I'll try to get it to re-create the problem here in the flatland, and pay attention to the defrost. When I get the results, I'll post back. Thanks for the input.
