factory alarm

Im wondering if anyone here has had to disconnect thier factory alarm. Mine went on the fritz a couple of weeks ago, and I had to reset the entire system to get it to start today.
If I go to disconnect it, what do I need to know? is it straight forward, or is there a sequence to remove the wiring?
Can I keep the keyless entry without the alarm enabled/installed?
Its a factory installed code alarm.

My alarm was a factory installed code-alarm (03) and it started to do some odd things. I replaced it with the keyless and remote start. The bad news is I can no longer use the remote start after I added a kill switch.

As for straight forward.. well it took the tech four hours to r&r the unit. I did get somewhat of a price break from code-alarm, the new unit was less than half price. It never hurts to take it in and see what they will do for you. These guys I delt with were just super.
