I need a replacement sending unit for my 66 F100. What year trucks would have the cab mounted gas tank? Also where can I get a new voltage regulator for my instrument cluster?
It's called a "constant" voltage regulator and the Ford part number is: B9MZ-10804-C and they are getting kind of pricey. I'm betting that there are way cheaper alternatives from Mouser and any other well stocked electronics outlet.. gotta ask my electronics wizard buddy....
I know that LMC Truck has the sending units and they are only 49.95 and that include the sending unit, new gasket and float. They show 61-72 in the years that are the same.
Are you sure you need a new sending unit? The floats go bad on those things typically. They will get a pin hole in them and sort of halfway flop around. New floats are like 6 bucks, genuine Ford replacement. Worth a try - ground out the sending unit and see if the gauge pegs to the high side (only for a second or two to see that it works) If so, the float is likely bad. I used a wine cork when I didn't have anything else on vacation, worked fine for a couple months till it got fuel-logged.
The LMC Truck catalog shows a replacement cluster voltage regulator for 61-66 Part#47-0888 for $14.95. They also have just the tank float for $5.95 Part#43-4001
Thanks for the info. I've requested a catolog from LMC. The sending unit is bad. The coil is kinked up and the contact was hanging up on it. Thanks again!!!!
