I have several of these trucks...2 driving....5 parts. One of my parts trucks has intermittent wipers and a cargo light. I was curious if any of these came with cruise control?

Yes, cruise was a option, but pretty rare before 78, and it's not like the 78 79s were full of the either.

Thanks...I was considering converting one over from a car application. Not sure how difficult this would be or if it would be worth it.

There is alittle black box behind the dash, that I think controls everything, but you'd also need the 2 piece speedo cable, a extra wire behind the dash to plug into a little yellow 3 hole female connector, steering wheel(at least pad and buttons), and then it should work.
I have cruise on my 79 Bronco, but the previous owner disconnected somthing, so it doesn't work, not like I'd use cruise to much anyway(mostly my mud play toy).

There is A LOT more to it than what has just been mentioned.

do a search for "cruise control List" with my user name.

You need a special brake booster, brake switches, harness, and depending on what year steering column /wiring.

It's not a just simple add a couple of parts .

Thanks for clearing it up Mil1ion, I didn't remember everything it took, but just from what I named, it sounds like to much trouble to try and do much less, everything else.

The biggest problem right now is we weren't informed of what year the truck in question is.

It makes a difference

My 1976 brochure says that cruise is only available on the 460 engine for that year, anyway.

Thanks, sorry about the lack of info. The truck is a 1978 F100 Ranger XLT shortbed. The truck originally came with a 302,c6,dana 44 (3.00 gears), tilt wheel, a/c. I have added the intermittent wipers from the 1976 and the D1VE block 460, c6, 9" (3.50 gears). I intend to add the cargo light off the 1976 later. The cruise was not a definate add on to me, it depended on the challenges involved in adding it. I am still considering changing the c6 for a 4spd auto.

Wasn't the cargo light on the 1976 like the ones off of the older trucks?

I thought 1977 was when they switched to the smaller cargo light lens.

I am not sure about the size. The only one I have seen is the one on my 1976.

The catalogs I have seen (Carpenter and LMC) both specify a serial # in the '77 model year as the change from the large to small cargo light.
