I have a 2000 F350 crewcab 7.3 4x4 with 88,750 original miles on it. I hear a dull knocking sound coming from the area of the right front tire. One of the fleet mechanics at my job says it could possibly be a loose brake shoe or a stuck caliper .Anybody have anything new to add. Any help would be appreciated!
ab1844, welcome to the site! good to have you around.
the knocking sound... does it sound like someone tapping your block with a small ball-peen hammer? or does it sound like someone knocking at your door. you might have to go answer it if it is.
Sounds like a small hammer tapping. It will go away sometimes when I put my foot on the brake. Will it help to know that this truck pulls my 7500 pound travel trailer several times a year. Only once this year. It's a Xlt with 16 inch wheels, 5" exhaust, chip, transcommand, aftermarket air cleaner, never abused!!
that is the common problem caused by air in the fuel lines, commonly termed "fuel cackle". it's a problem with the stock fuel delivery system that is "dead-head". once the fuel makes it past the regulators it goes through the injectors and thats it, it does not go back anywhere. so any air (or dirt) gets sent through them too. to cut down on air entrainment, you can start searching for "Hutch mod" or "in-tank and pre-pump mods" by using the Search feature in the blue bar at the top of the page. click on advanced search and only search this forum for faster results.
