code P0299

I bought a used 05 F350 4x4 CC PSD with 14,400 miles on it, we took it from So. Cal. to mammoth pulling a 10,000 toy hauler. Halfway up to Mammoth the CEL came on and coded P0299 and 1 pending. Am I need of a new turbo? I have done a search, but my truck is not making excessive boost, smoking or bucking. Since I am not the original buyer, is it still covered under warranty?

The engine and turbo is covered until 100,000 miles. Starting at 36,001 miles you start paying a deductable I believe. Take it in to Ford and let them take care of the problem. I do believe you are under warranty.

I live in So Cal. If you can get it over to Fontana to Sunrise Ford (on the 10 Fwy.), that is the best dealer in town. They have 6 diesel techs and two "diesel" smart advisors, as they are probably the largest seller of Ford PSDs in the state. Folks drive from all over just to go there (I drive from Culver City myself). Let us know what's up.

So, does underboost mean it is not making enough boost pressure?

after mine threw the low boost on three separate occasions while towing, Ford changed the turbo to a new variant, supposedly immune to such things. It works great so far. Bring it in, maybe they will fix it the first time..Good luck..Bob <><
