Got the front fenders off today and got a look at the front cab corners. They are shot pretty bad. Can this be repaired with panels? I didn't realize it was this bad until I got a good look at it. ANy suggestions?
several companys sell patch panels for the front corners i have replaced both mine with ones from mid-fifty i also purchased the reinforcement strip for behind the fender bolt holes i was fairly happy with the fit

I am currently replacing the driver side corer on my 56. I'll have photos in a new gallery albun soon. This has been a somewhat daunting task for me as a beginner, but not too bad. There are two surpirises for you inside that panel as the dashboard end bracket and the lower door hinge tub are also welded to the corner panel. The old one didn't come out as one piece for me.
Once the corner is off, you'll have to examine the condition of the interior cab details and deal with any rust there before welding the new corner in.
You'll need the corner patch panel, the interior fender attach doubler and a new fender attach bracket.
yea it was my first time too doing something like this i just worked a little at a time wore out two spot weld bits getting the panels off i also had to replace a small portion on the lower front corner and i forgot about that weld on lower hinge bucket couldnt figure out what was holding it!! lol just take your time and try fitting it at least a dozen times before you finaly weld it up

So there is a whole panel you can take out by removing the spot welds? Its not just a cut out and replace panel? How do you know where the spot welds are?
You can replace the whole panel or if the rust hasn't spread too far you can cut the repair panel down to what you need. Better to replace too much than too little. Spot welds can usually be located along the edge of a panel, look for a depressed dimple ~ 1/4" in diameter.
