a guy at work has a 6.9l and wants to sell for 1000, only reason hes selling it is because it wont idel, says he has to give it throttle to keep it running, however he is trying to get it fixed, and if the problem is simple, i want to steal it from him b4 he figures out the problem! im not sure what kind, but he has an aftermarket turbo on it, it been on there for a few years so i dont think it has anything to do with that! i figure the idel may just need to be adjusted, or the ip advanced a little? any advice is appreciated! Dustin
usually, the pump is leaking fuel from the mounting neck at the weep hole but not always. Many times you can add a rich dose of fuel additive to free up the internals, but I'd start at the filter and then the lift pump. If you crank the engine over and press the shrader valve at the filter housing, it should squirt across the engine compartment.
It would be hard to tell how much a new ip would cost out there. Check with injection shops for a DB2 intl injection pump for the 6.9.
