Project racer...

Just wanting some thoughts on a racer.......Im going to put a Compounded 7.3 in a platform for racing. However....I havent decided if I want to do a Mustang Hatch that I have that is stripped for a 1/4 mile car, or an f-150 1/4 mile truck, or a 1 ton single wheel truck puller....... What I want is some kind of comp. diesel powered car or truck.....your thoughts please...

Heavy engine to try to install in the car or 1/2 ton truck. Fully dressed a 7.3 or 6.9 is around 1200 pounds.

what dave said, but make sure you reinforce the frame on the 1/2 ton. also, use 1 ton running gear. if not you may find your self breaking more parts than expected. a racer huh?

why not build a competition style pulling machine?

I thought about a pulling truck. If I put it in a 1/2 ton or car...it would be sitting on a custom full frame with roll cage. Was thinking 2x4 steel frame rails with it renforced about every foot! I know the engine is heavy, but with a turbo, h2o and propane injection....should put up enough of a fight to be a fast car. The whole thing would weigh somewhere between 3k and 3500 pounds.....
