Last nite on the way home from the Delisle show I had 4 chances to hit some 4 legged jay walkers, luckly I was able to see them in time to avoid hitting them with my 67 Mustang.
The bugs were a different story though.....
I hit my first deer in 98 out here. Lucky I got slowed down enough that I did not hit the deer hard enough to knock it down. Instead I got a kicked out headlight and a dent in the fender and the plastic strip on the bumper was broken. The deer ran off with some bruises. It was funny becasue I was sliding on ice and bumped it 3 times. Just the speed was about 5 mph. The damage I got was from the hoofs kicking the car.
Deer #1 - I was driving my mom's tempo down grid road from my girlfriends place and it had just rained a tonne and the road was slick. I was only doing about 40 kph when it ran infront, I just caught his backend in the front corner. It knocked out the park light in the car and spun the deer around and made him fall into a huge puddle in the ditch. He got up and ran away and never looked too bad.
Deer #2 - I was driving dad's 91 F250 4x4 diesel back from my girlfriends place again. I seen a deer on the shoulder of the grid and slowed down to about 50 kph. As I got beside him he ran straight into the box of the truck fell down on the grid got up and ran the other way. Dumb deer, never hurt the truck at all.
Deer #3 - Once again driving the same stretch of road from my girlfriends place, this time in my 87 Ranger 4x4 STX (still miss that truck). I was doing about a 100 kph on the grid when bang, out of nowhere there's a deer right infront of me. I barely let off the gas peddle and bang I nailed it. It went under the truck and I drove over it with all four tires. When I looked in the rear view mirror it was about 10 feet in the air, and then it proceeded to bounce down the road and roll into the ditch. I went back and checked and let's just say the deer never suffered. My Ranger had a nicely bent bar in the push bar and that was it. I was amazed as the impact was pretty hard.
That's it for my deer stories, although there have been many close calls. Just missed 2 moose in my 79 Bronco one night. And then there were the 2 bears that I slide sideways between down the highway in my mom's Intrepid. I had to stop and clean the shorts after that one.
Maybe you should stop driving home from the girlfriends just spend the night
Ive only had 2 run into me one a little doe the other one the last nite of hunting season in the dark out comes the biggest buck I saw all season and runs into the side of my 76 4X4 highboy caved in the fender and door I looked out the wiondow and saw this deer going ***hole over antler down the road beside me. Got stopped and he was gone. Too bad I probably would have tagged him.
Have a good one guys

No doubt, bears being bigger and heavier can hit harder I would think.
A lot of other times when there have been close calls with deer, I don`t like it and even less when I driving one of the Mustangs.
I hit a poor rabbit once with a 67 Mustang GT that took out one of the GT light bars in the grill.
Tonight I was almost the hood ornament in a parking lot. This woman come flying around the corner and slammed on the brakes. Stopped about a foot from my legs. She was speeding in the lot. My wife was on the otherside of me. The woman claims the sun was in her eyes. But man if the sun was in your eyes they were not before she turned the corner and also her speed was a factor. This is all I need now would be some broken knees.
