Flex Plate?

Can I use a Flex Plate from my 76 302 and put it on a 1985 351W? The 351 is from a truck if that matters. I've had this engine project on hold for a while. I'm really gonna try to get moving foward with it. I'm sure I'll have alot of questions. I know how to search. I would rather post and get fresh Ideas.. or opinions.

Yes, the early 302 shares balancing with all 351W's so you can use the flexplate.

Jason.. thank you, I knew that I could count on your response. Seems like whenever something technical comes up your the first to respond.

The engine is out of a 85 F-150 4x4 with a C-6. Is the oil pan ok? Or should I spend the money and buy one from one of the Bronco sites? I guess I have to buy the adapters to use the 302 stuff, or can I use the power steering and all from the 351? I know the water pump needs to be replced. The outlet is on the wrong side.

Since the 85's oil pan is rear sump. This is very similar to the pan they sell for the conversion anyways, so I think you will be good to go.

The power steering hose fittings will be different on the 85. You can use the later pump and search for the right hoses (I know there is a hose application for Mustang to Bronco, but I'm not sure if the pickup and Mustang use the same pump fittings) or have the ends installed on your Bronco hose.
If it were mine, I would keep the Bronco setup and use the adaptors. It is a cheap alternative and makes it easier to find parts in the future. It also makes the Saginaw pump upgrade a direct swap, if you decide to go that route.
