fwiw, i run 35" mud grapplers on an 18x10 wheel... too damned loud. going back to terra grapplers that work far better in the rain, and only slightly as good as my MG tires in the snow. but darn near silent.
I voted for the 20's...granted, I'm probably a bit biased.
As much as I don't like the current trend towards big rims with super low profile tires on a truck/SUV, I have to say that I really like the stock setup found on the the Harley-Davidson edition Super Duties. The Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires in a LT275/65R20 (just a hair over 34" tall) look pretty good. They fill out the wheel well nicely, and they still have enough rubber to look proportional to the 20" rim size.
Now, having said all of that...
What size rims are you currently running? I am assuming they are 15's, but I could be off-base there. That being the case, I'd look at 17" rims, if I were in your position. There are a lot more tires sizes available in a 17", and the prices on them are more reasonable. The 18" tire selection seems to be pretty small, and the 20" is not a lot better...at least not while maintaining a load E tire, and you will be paying a larger premium for the 20's.
i have the stock Lariat 16xtoo small rim now. i got a quote from SuperTyte on 325/60r20 (35") terragrappler/toyo AT tires on Moto Metal 951 20x10 wheels mounted, balanced, chrome locks, lugs, covers, and valve stems shipped to my door for $2595. that's expensive, but i think its a good deal for what im getting.
Strokin, I tried to reply to your priv message, but apparently your box is full.
Anyway, I purchased my entire combo for a little over $2200 at Discount Tire. So far I've been pleased with the way my truck now looks.
The only issue is my 6" lift actually sits a little lower in the front than the rear. The Skyjacker's tend to sag a bit below what the actual lift is. So on a full lock turn and hitting a nice sized bump, I can rub the inner fenderwell. All I need is another inch up front and I won't have this problem. I'll probably get some hangers in the front to lift it up a bit higher.
Anyway, good luck with whatever you purchase. The wheel you chose looks nice. I vote for 20's. These trucks look sick with some nice rims and some fat meats.
Big rims only look good with big tires. If you are running a 39 or a 40 I would say a 20 is ok. 35-37 a 18 is alright. I just think big rims take away from the height of the truck and make it look smaller. If you ever have to air down good luck. the benifits hare that they handle better but I am not concerned with that I bought a truck why does everone now a days try to make big trucks cars. Damn Yuppieds. That or the guys who lower 4wds. wtf. I like lowered vehicles they look cool buy why do it to 4wd?
There are enough vehicles out there that don't ride like trucks buy one of those and if all these soccer moms stop driving big trucks maybe they will come down price if there isnt so much demand.
Oh sorry rant over if it is between 18 and 20 I say 18.
I'd do the 18s, just cause it gives you a little more rubber. If for some reason you might want to take her off roading in the future. I would worry about the 20s with less rubber. That's just me.
