I'm tearing down my 360 to rebuild it. In doing so, I've tried hard to document how everything was put together so when I reassemble, it will go back easily.
However, when I took the oil pump out I didn't pay attention to the way the pump drive shaft was situated. There is a spring washer close to one end of the hex key shaft and I don't know how it went in. Does the spring washer go towards the pump or the distributor? I have a picture of the shaft in my gallery, but I don't know how to post a link.
The spring washer side goes towards the distributor, but you've got to install it from the bottom of the block. You want the washer on the underside of the lower distributor boss. That way when the distributor gets pulled, the washer holds the shaft in the block.
