Amway makes a product called Wonder Mist, if you can latch onto some of that it would help.

This may a take a week or so off 10-12 times daily of spraying that area.

You can try tapping the Vacuum advance as well to see of it will loosen it.

Once you get it loose, apply some anti-sieze lube liberally then re-install the dizzy

Check the vacuum advance for it being seized and the diaphram inside it for being dried out and leaking.
Best yet is to just replace it

remember...patience
Why do you say "except WD40"? (just curious)
Thanks

Quote: Why do you say "except WD40"? (just curious)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because in the REAL world of penetrating fluid, WD-40 is crap !
There are so many that are better.
PB Blaster
CRC
Wonder Mist
just to name a few.
WD-40 got where they did on Marketing much like Armor-All did.
Their product is really inferior to others.
Btw,Using all the text in the post to quote a couple of words is waste.
I would have done this instead to make it simple and shorter.
Mil1ion Quoted: Don't just stick with the Blaster.
Try others except WD-40.
It's just my opinion. I think there is way too much wrong usage of the quote feature
All of us. I can really only speak for myself but I know I've broken a few distributors. Frustration + lack of patience + BFH =
WD 40 is not a penetrating oil, it is a lubricating oil. also, the "WD" stands for water displacing, and 40 is the 40'th mix they made that worked.
i had the same problem of a stuck distributor on a 289 in my 65 falcon that sat for 20 years, with the plug wires 1 space advanced.. i tried for 3 weeks to get the dang thing to move, soaking 4-5 times a day with pb blaster. finally when i took the intake off to replace the leaking front gasket, i used an oxy-acetylene torch to heat up the front of the block all around the distributor hole, and a pipe wrench on the distributor shaft to twist it. it took over 30 minutes to get it out, and that was getting the block VERY HOT, and breaking the distributor housing. but that engine did run for another 8 years before a head gasket let loose.
Becareful here, I tried this and I ended up beaking the housing at the weak points of the distributor. I applied to much force and unfortunately for me, I lost my $20 core return because I broke it where the vacuum advance is tied down with the 2 screws.
Besiedes, I that you only wanted to rotate the unit for better timming.
I have had good luck with a product called Breakfree. It's freed up rusted solid and corroded parts for me in the past. Most gun stores have it and many sporting goods places too.
